Here are some steps to help fix common Windows installation problems using system performance tools:

The System File Check (SFC) tool scans the system files for any corrupted or missing files and repairs them if necessary. To run SFC:

  • Press the Windows key + X and select Command Prompt (Admin).

  • Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.

  • The scan will start, and you’ll see a progress bar that indicates the number of files checked.

If the SFC tool finds any issues, it will attempt to repair them. If the problem persists, proceed to the next method.

Method 2: Use the DISM tool

The Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool checks for and repairs corruption in Windows system images. To run DISM:

  • Press the Windows key + X and select Command Prompt (Admin).

  • Type dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth and press Enter.

  • The scan will start, and you’ll see a list of systems that need attention.

If the DISM tool finds any issues, it will attempt to repair them. If the problem persists, proceed to the next method.

  • Click on “Update & Security” in the left-hand menu.

  • Click on “Windows Update” (or “Windows Update & Security”).

  • Type msconfig and press Enter.

  • Click on “General” in the left-hand menu.

  • Click on “System Protection”.

  • Click on “Repair options”.

  • Select a system restore point from before the problem started.

Method 5: Run the System Configuration troubleshooter

The System Configuration troubleshooter is designed to resolve common issues caused by outdated drivers or settings. To run the System Configuration troubleshooter:

  • Press the Windows key + X and select Troubleshoot.

  • Click on “Advanced options”.

  • Click on “Additional settings”.

  • Select “System and Security” (or “Computer and Devices”).

Method 6: Check for driver updates

Outdated drivers can cause installation problems. To check for driver updates:

  • Press the Windows key + X and select Device Manager.

  • Look for outdated or missing drivers in the list of installed devices.

  • Right-click on a problematic device and select “Update driver”.

  • Follow the prompts to update the driver.
